Ferguson flavors market with Apple for Teacher Day

The Ferguson Farmers' Market will celebrate apples and teachers from 9 a.m. to noon this Saturday, Sept. 9.

There is fun for everyone.

Teachers who show their school identification will receive a free bag of fresh apples and all market guests are eligible to enter the All-Apple Baked Goods Contest for a chance to win $100.

For those who simply want to come for the fresh foods, market chef Tony Lenero will be on the spot with samples of freshly made apple dishes.Advertisement

Each apple entry of any homemade pie, strudel, bread, turnover, cookie or other baked good made with apples should be delivered to the market between 9 and 9:30 a.m., with judging beginning at 9:40 a.m. Recipe sharing is encouraged, but not required.

Entries can be removed after judging or left for market guests to sample.

The market is at 20 S. Florissant in the Citywalk arts and entertainment district, adjacent to the new North County Bikeway.

Other special features of the day include apple bobbing and music by 1000 Days.
